TCS senior Alex Ciminillo, along with other students from area high schools, took part in this year’s Youth of the Year competition. Youth of the Year is a Lima Exchange Club program through which students are nominated and then write an essay on the topic of volunteerism.  A group of judges selects the winner for the award.

A luncheon hosted by the Lima Exchange Club was held at P.B.O.E. on March 18, 2013.  Nominees attended from all fifteen schools involved.

When asked why he nominated Alex for the award, TCS principal Mr. Ken Heath replied, “I felt like he is the personification of Temple Christian School.”

Alex is very active at TCS with his involvement in theater, soccer, bowling, and track.  He also enjoys attending Teens for Christ and volunteers his time to serve area churches through the Teens for Christ ministry team.

Alex said that he was excited and surprised to be nominated.  Although he did not receive the top award, he did receive $100 for his essay regarding youth volunteerism in the community.
