Ethyn Dirmeyer

Senior Spotlight: Ethyn Dirmeyer

Senior Ethyn Michael Dirmeyer, 18, was born at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Ohio on December 30, 1998. He has gone to Temple Christian School for three years and previously attended Elida, Delphos Jefferson, and River Valley schools. Ethyn is a member of the varsity bowling team and the TCS Chapel Praise Team. Outside of school, he manages two businesses: one as an independent photographer for Dirmeyer Photography, and another as a DJ for Audacity Entertainment. He also works part-time as a sandwich artist at Subway on Elida Rd.

When asked what his favorite childhood memory is, he recalled a time when he brought his Nintendo GameCube over to his grandfather’s house and taught him how to play some video games in which his grandpa proceeded to beat him. His favorite vacation was also spent with his grandpa when they shared long conversations while traveling to and from Michigan to transport snowmobiles. Ethyn’s favorite TV Show is Breaking Bad due to the drama of the show and great acting displayed. One of his favorite movies is Facing the Giants because it was the only VHS he had at his mother’s house, so he watched it often on his old TV when younger. His current favorite song is “Caught in the Rain” by Hopsin, who is also one of his favorite musical artists.

Ethyn attends Lima Baptist Temple where he volunteers by camera recording. His life verse is Isaiah 41:10, “ ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” When asked his favorite quote, Ethyn shared one by Hopsin: “If you want to succeed you have to try or one day, you’ll get older and realize you can’t provide.” Hopsin is the person he would choose to spend the day with if he could spend a day with any celebrity. He would ask him his stance on religion because many of his songs make references to God, but Ethyn can tell he doesn’t really understand Him.

When asked his favorite food, Ethyn shared that it would have to be the chicken wings from “B-Dubs” or Buffalo Wild Wings. His dream car is a 2008 Ford Mustang GT that’s blue with two white racing stripes. In his spare time, Ethyn enjoys video gaming, YouTubing for his channel “Deadpixel” (which includes some vlogging), spending time with his girlfriend Katie and hanging with his friend Jake. He also enjoys watching his favorite sports teams, the Denver Broncos and Ohio State Buckeyes, play football. One of the top priorities on Ethyn’s bucket list is going to Disney World, which he will be doing on June 12, 2017.

Ethyn has enjoyed senior year because of easier classes and less homework. His favorite part about going to Temple is the accepting atmosphere of the people. After he graduates, he’ll miss storytelling during lunch time. Ethyn’s future plans include possibly attending Wright State University in Dayton, OH to major in Computer Science. With this major, he plans to someday work for an electronic database company such as Intel.

When asked the main lesson his high school experience has taught him that he won’t forget, Ethyn stated, “There’s a lot of drama anywhere you go. Whether it’s work or school or at home, it will be there. Don’t act on compulsion. Be slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness.” Thank you, Ethyn, for sharing with us! We appreciate the blessing you are at TCS! Have a great rest of your senior year!
