Weekly Newsletter

Friday – April 20th 2018

Hello TCS families. I trust everyone had a good week. Philippians 4:6-7 says,Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. These are encouraging verses for Christians as we walk through life and experience a variety of life’s challenges. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.

Spring Play:

Congratulations to all the members of our drama department for the excellent job they did in performing “The Trouble with Being Tucker Dowt” this past weekend. A big thanks goes out to directors Julie Crawford and Wendell Hill, along with all of those who helped make this performance possible. And congratulations cast and crew for providing an excellent weekend of entertainment. Great job everyone!

Temple Christian High School 16th Annual Art Show:

I trust that many of you were able to attend the TCS 16th Annual Art Show this past weekend.  We have an amazing art department and some very talented artists. Congratulations to Mrs. Phillips and all of our TCS artists for a job well done.

TCS Chapel:

Our theme for elementary chapels this year has been looking at various Bible stories on how to  “Get Away and Get to Know God.”  This month’s chapels have been focusing on Jesus being our friend (James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”)  Abraham was listed in the Bible as a “friend of God”, and David shared many stories of his relationship as a friend of God.  In today’s chapel, Pastor Whitman performed a skit with the 4th grade.  There was an invitation to come to the palace of Jesus the King.  In the skit, Jesus led the daughters of the King to the cross in salvation.  Then He took them to the banquet table and to the throne room.  The children enjoyed the skit depicting Jesus as their friend and King.

5th Grade Fun:

“Strike” down boredom in the 5th grade!  Our marvelous readers in 5th grade met their reading month challenge of 5,200 minutes so easily that Mrs. Lawrence challenged them to double their time.  Could they do it?  Yes, they reached their goal with over 13,000 minutes for the month of March! So, Friday they enjoyed their reward of bowling at Westgate Lanes.  Have any extra books to “spare”?

Youth Indoor Soccer: (Boys 4-7th Grade)

Box Tops:

Do you have a jar full of Box Tops at home?  In the elementary building, we have a monthly drawing.  For every 25 Box Tops turned in, the student gets to pick a prize and enter his or her name in a drawing.  At the end of each month, one name will be drawn to win a prize. To help us out, please make sure the Box Tops are NOT expired and are cut out neatly.  Collection sheets are available in the elementary office.  Do NOT attach bonus Box Tops to the collection sheets. Thanks!
