Weekly Newsletter

Friday – April 27th 2018

Hello TCS families. I trust everyone had a good week. 2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen”. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.

Spring Sports Physicals for current 6th – 11th graders:

The 2018-2019 Sports Physicals Packet was released this week. The packet contains crucial documents for the 2018-2019 Athletic Seasons. All documents are required to be signed, and the physicians’ physical must be completed in order for any student to participate in a practice, scrimmage, or game after August 1, 2018. The packet includes information about the Free Sports Physical given at O.I.O on May 7th and May 14th. Families are encouraged to complete all paperwork before the end of this school year so that everything is in place for next school year (especially those that play fall sports).

Ohio High School Honors Band:

A TCS Senior has been selected as a member of the 43rd Annual Ohio High School Honors Band at Ohio Northern University. Kayla Mueller (flute/piccolo) will rehearse and perform at ONU’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts this weekend, along with 120 other outstanding student musicians from all over the state of Ohio. The Spring Band Festival Concert, featuring the Honors Band and the ONU Symphonic Band, will take place at 4:00 PM Sunday, April 29, at the Freed Center in Ada. Congratulations, Kayla!

Art Field Trip:

The TCS Art Program provided Juniors and Seniors the opportunity to tour Columbus College of Art and Design on April 20th. Students were able to explore the campus and see the many areas of expertise. While in the Glass Hot Shop, Cameron Worsham suited up and got to handle blown glass first hand. We ended our tour enjoying a lunch buffet in their first class dining area.

Biology Field Trip:

On Wednesday, the Biology class ended their study of the human body by traveling to Ohio Northern University to visit the cadaver lab. During their visit with the anatomist, they were given the opportunity to observe and hold some of the organs in the body, along with human skulls. The students really appreciated the experience. Thank you to ONU for allowing the students to visit and have this learning opportunity.

National Day of Prayer:

TCS elementary students will be singing at the Allen County National Day of Prayer event at the UNOH Event Center on Thursday May 3rd.  The event runs from 11:45 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.  TCS students will be singing between 11:45 A.M.-12:15 P.M.

Elementary Chapel:

Mrs. Rager and the first grade class led chapel today. The first graders enjoyed singing the song “Make Me Wise” about King Solomon and his request for wisdom from God. Mrs. Rager did an object lesson teaching about the importance of making God a priority in our lives. The students were very interested in the object lesson that included Skittles, Swedish Fish, and a large candy bar. The students learned that it is important to make time for the big things in life (God) and then everything else will fit where it should. Great job first grade!
