Hello TCS families. I hope everyone has had a good week. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend!

Elementary Chapel:

Our elementary students, teachers, and parents enjoyed an interactive lesson today in chapel about the “Attitude of Gratitude”. The TCS freshmen class shared Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all He has done.” The freshmen put on a skit demonstrating how the Lord will provide for us just as He did for the Israelites. We also learned how fortunate we are for the Lord’s many blessings such as the food, family, friends and our Christian School. We are grateful for the high school students who invest in our younger ones, sharing with them the good news of Jesus!

Geography Bee:

Temple’s annual Geography Bee will take place in the high school chapel room on Wednesday January 24th at 9:00 a.m. Students in grades 4-8 were eligible to compete in the contest.

Cheer Camp:

Cheer Camp for girls in Grades K4-6 will be held the week of January 29th through February 2nd. The girls will perform at the boys varsity basketball game on Friday February 2nd. Flyers were sent home earlier this week. Extras are available in the elementary office.

Military Appreciation Night:

Tonight’s home varsity boys basketball game vs. Riverside will be Military Appreciation Night. The Ohio High School Athletic Association is sponsoring an initiative for Statewide Military Appreciation @ All HS Boys Basketball Contests. Thanks to all of those who have served or are currently serving our county in the military. Current and former members of the military will be able to attend the game for a discounted price of $2, and they will receive a free popcorn or pop at our TCS Booster concession stand.

D.A.R.E. Program:

Beginning Monday, Deputy Mike White will begin a 10-week D.A.R.E. course with our sixth grade students every Monday morning. He will teach them about drug awareness and resistance using true stories, videos, and more. At the completion of the course, students will go on a field trip. Last year they went to Allen County Juvenile Detention Center, the Elida Fire Department and Westgate Entertainment Center.

College Credit Plus Meeting:

We will be holding an informational meeting regarding the College Credit Plus Program for the 2018-19 school year on February 22nd at 6:30 P.M. in the high school lunchroom. The meeting is for any middle school/high school students (and parents) who are interested in taking college courses next year. Several current TCS students are taking advantage of the state’s CCP Program, which allows students to take college courses for dual college/high school credit at no expense to the students. Some examples of courses being taken this year are as follows: English Composition, Statistics, Public Speaking, Business Law, Computer Applications in the workplace, Medical Terminology, Principles of Nutrition, Sociology, General Psychology, Principles of Management, Circuit Analysis I, Manufacturing Processes, American History, Intro to Graphic Design, Anatomy and Physiology, and Essentials of Psychology.

Yearbook Orders:

If you missed out on previous opportunities to order and you would like a copy of this year’s TCS yearbook, please see the attached flyer. Orders are due by February 2nd.

Bus Transportation:

Just a reminder for families who have children riding Lima City, Elida, and Shawnee busses. If any of those schools have a weather cancellation on a day we are in school, they will not send out their busses to pick up our students or to take students home in the afternoon. Families will need to transport their own children to and from school. In addition, if any of those schools have a two-hour weather delay on a day that we go to school on time, their busses will be delayed two hours in picking up our students. If you have any questions, please contact your respective school district’s transportation department. Thank you.

Re-enrollment for the 2018-19 school year is scheduled to begin on February 12th. We look forward to the opportunity of continuing to minister to your family in the upcoming school year. Our mission at Temple is to glorify God by providing students a Christ-centered education, marked by excellence and grounded in Biblical Truth. Thank you for choosing Temple for your children.
