Weekly Newsletter

Friday – January 5th 2018

Hello TCS families. It is good to have everyone back in school. I trust everyone is getting back in the swing of things. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend!

Bus Transportation:

Just a reminder for families who have children riding Lima City, Elida, and Shawnee busses. If any of those schools have a weather cancellation on a day we are in school, they will not send out their busses to pick up our students. Families will need to transport their own children to school. In addition, if any of those schools have a two-hour weather delay on a day that we go to school on time, their busses will be delayed two hours in picking up our students. If you have any questions, please contact your respective school district’s transportation department. Thank you.

Mary Brown Service Award Night:

Temple Christian School will be honoring our newest recipients of the Mary Brown Service Award this coming Saturday night, January 6th, at halftime of the varsity boys basketball games vs. Allen East.

The 2018 recipients of the Mary Brown Service Award are Tom and Dottie Chapman. Beginning in 1984, Tom and Dottie enrolled their children in Temple Christian School, and for the next 23 years they could be found serving at TCS. Tom served in many different areas around the school and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Tom coached many teams, including elementary baseball and basketball. Tom also served as the varsity baseball assistant coach for 12 years, junior high boys basketball coach for 4 years and helped start the TCS softball program in 1999. Tom also served as Temple Christian assistant athletic director from 2003 to 2007.

Dottie Chapman served as church secretary at Lima Baptist Temple, as well as school secretary at Temple Christian. She spent a total of 10 years as secretary at TCS and also supported TCS as a coach’s wife, a bookkeeper, and planner for the sports teams that Tom coached. She formed many great and long lasting relationships with the students of TCS.

TCS will honor the Chapmans with a plaque that will be permanently located in the east hallway of the gymnasium. Mr. and Mrs. Chapman, we thank you for your many sacrifices and for your many years of service at Temple Christian School.

Pastors Appreciation Night:

Area pastors will be admitted free to the varsity boys basketball game vs. Waynesfield tonight, January 5th. Pastors will also receive a free drink or popcorn at our concession stand.

High School Spanish Class Field Trip:

The Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 classes visited La Charreada today for lunch. They have been studying various Spanish food words and thought this would be a great way to complete their study! Thanks to Mrs. Megan Kinnear for teaching high school Spanish and for making this trip possible.
