Weekly Newsletter

Friday – March 15, 2019

Hello TCS families. We trust that you have had a great week.  Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend!

Game Day:

All TCS students (5th through 12th grade) are invited to come out for a game day after school on our next early release day – Thursday, March 21st. It will be from 1:15 – 4:00 P.M. in the gymnasium. We will have tables with various board games for you and your friends to play, as well as some group interaction games and activities. Cost for admission is $3.00, which will get you in and will get you entered into our “Minute To Win It” contest. We will have also have snacks and drinks for sale for an additional charge. All proceeds go to the junior class to raise money for our annual TCS junior/senior banquet. Contact Megan Kinnear for more details at kinnearm@tcspioneers.org.

Pi Day:

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi) and is observed on March 14th. Students in Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Physics created videos demonstrating the theme, “We need pi!” The winning video was submitted by Lydia Bassett in Pre-calculus.  Best of class videos were submitted by Elaina Helser in Algebra 2, Michael Engle and Austin Hill in Geometry, and Dakota Clay and Jonathan Acklin in Physics.  The winning video has been posted on Temple’s Facebook page for all to enjoy.

Reading Month Finale:

Parents, this is the last chance to sign-up for the reading finale!  Our elementary students are working diligently to achieve their 400-minute personal reading goal for the month, and we want to reward them with a “wild” time of fun and food on Friday, March 29th.  We need your help!  If you can assist in our activities that day (12:30-2:30 P.M.), or you can provide a food item, please email lawrencej@tcspioneers.org by Monday.  Thanks!

Book Fair:

Our annual Scholastic Book Fair was another huge success!  With the help of our volunteers and all of the grandparents who visited last Thursday, our total sales were $5453.19, well over our goal of $5000.  We earned 50% of that back in free books and other items.  Our teachers LOVE spending those Scholastic Dollars to decorate their classrooms and build up their libraries.  The best part, though, is watching our students get excited about reading.  Thank, you volunteers!!  Thank you, grandparents, parents, teachers and students!!

NHS Food Drive:

The TCS National Honor Society is sponsoring a Canned Food Drive.  It is running from March 8th through March 18th, so the final day to bring in canned food and money ($1 = 2 Cans) is Monday, March 18th. The canned food and money collected will be donated to Our Daily Bread, a non-profit organization in Lima.  Temple is having a friendly competition between classes to encourage students and families to donate.  Each class has been assigned a teacher that will represent the class in the competition. The winning teacher will get to pie the losing teacher. Here are the current standings:
