Hello TCS families. I hope everyone has had a good week. 1 Samuel 12:24 says, “But be sure to fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things He has done for you”. This is a great reminder for each of us. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.
OSU STEM Steps 2018:
On Monday, March 12, several sophomore and junior girls attended OSU STEM Steps 2018 at the OSU Lima campus. STEM Steps is an enriching and exciting day filled with hands-on activities in various STEM fields to encourage and stimulate an interest in science. Guest speaker Dr. Manu B. Aggarwal gave a presentation on the challenges that women face in the medical profession. Students also attended four engaging sessions with the STEM faculty. A discussion with a panel of INEOS engineers and scientists concluded the day.
Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi) and is observed on March 14th. Students in Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Physics created videos answering the question, “Why is Pi important?” The winning video was submitted by Marc Dominguez, Dillon Grover and Brody Bowman. The video has been posted on Temple’s Facebook page for all to enjoy.
We are still in need of parent volunteers to help make our big reading month finale a success. If you would like to help, please email Mrs. Lawrence at email@example.com.
Meet the Author Day:
Karen Seelenbinder, our visiting author, spent the day with our elementary students on Wednesday. Karen incorporates her faith and her favorite Scriptures in each of her books and in her presentations. After sharing some of her ideas about creating stories and characters, she spent time in each classroom either reading her books or helping them write stories of their own. She also signed each book that was purchased with a personalized note to the students. Our budding authors and illustrators thoroughly enjoyed their time with her. If you missed out on ordering one of her books, you can check out her website at www.karenseelenbinder.com.
