Hello TCS families. I hope everyone has had a good week. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths”. These are great verses for us to live by on a daily basis. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.
Kewpee Art Show:
Almost 300 students from 22 local schools submitted 400 pieces of art to the 30th annual Kewpee High School Art Invitational. Temple Christian High School had seven pieces accepted into the show, a record number for us. Junior Dakota Clay got first place in Jewelry for his “Infinity Glove”. Sophomore Allison Durst received second place in Digital Medium for her “The Journey” and Sophomore Lydia Bassett got second place in Drawing for her “Sliced Artichoke”. Allison and Lydia were were able to attend the Art Reception to receive their awards. Congratulations to our very talented group of TCS Artists!
District Junior High Honor Band:
Two TCS middle school students have been selected as members of the Ohio Music Education Association District 3 JH Honors Festival Band! Caleb Kiser (percussion) and Hailey Smith (flute) will rehearse and perform at Wapakoneta HS this Friday and Saturday, along with 81 other outstanding student musicians from our 8-county district. The Festival Concert, featuring the JH Honor Band, Choir, and Jazz Band, will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 3, in the WHS Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at the door for $5 (children 5 and under are free). Congratulations Caleb and Hailey!
Parking Lot Safety:
We would like to ask for everyone’s help in regards to keeping our parking lot a safe place for our children and other drivers. We are asking that everyone please drive slowly as you enter and leave the parking lot. Thank you for helping us with this important matter.
Boys Basketball Tournament:
Congratulations to the varsity boys for their tournament win over Ridgemont on Tuesday night at Bath. The varsity boys will now play in the Sectional Final tonight (Friday March 2nd ) vs. Marion Local at Bath High School. The game will start at 6:00 P.M. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. The Sectional Finals are a split session, so anyone who wants to stay and watch the second game of the evening (USV vs. New Bremen) must buy a ticket for that game as well.
We enjoyed a tremendous day with TCS grandparents on Thursday. Mrs. Smith and the elementary students put on a great program, and grandparents were able to visit the elementary art show, book fair, and classrooms. Thanks TCS grandparents for joining us for this special day.
Our annual elementary reading month celebration began on Monday. Our teachers did an awesome job of decorating all of the classrooms and hallways. Students were fascinated with the decorations when they entered the building in the morning, and they were able to enjoy our reading month kickoff assembly in the afternoon. During the month, students are encouraged to read a certain amount of minutes each week (please see class flyer). We will have special activities each Friday during the month of March to celebrate reading month with a grand finale celebration at the end of the month.
Meet the Author Day:
We have a Meet the Author Day scheduled for March 14. Karen Seelenbinder will share her books with our elementary students and walk them through the writing process she uses. She will also visit their classrooms to work with them on their own short stories. Copies of her books can be pre-ordered so that she can autograph them while she is here. Order forms will come home next week. For more information, check out her website at www.karenseelenbinder.com
Spring Sports Information:
All Spring Sports informational packets and registration information will be made available today via email. Information will be emailed regarding Junior High Track, High School Track, High School Baseball, and K-6th Grade Track.

If you prefer the yearbook only, cost is $40 and optional name personalization is $5. Do you have a jar full of Box Tops at home? This year we are using Box Tops money for special reading month activities. In the elementary building, we will have a monthly drawing. For every 25 Box Tops turned in, the student gets to pick a prize and enter his or her name in a drawing. At the end of each month, one name will be drawn to win a prize. To help us out, please make sure the Box Tops are NOT expired and are cut out neatly. Collection sheets are available in the elementary office. Do NOT attach bonus Box Tops to the collection sheets. Thanks!
Re-enrollment for the 2018-19 school year has begun. Registration packets have been emailed and are available on our TCS website. Hard copies are available in the elementary office. Please remember that re-enrollments fees are $100 before March 31st and $150 after. We look forward to the opportunity of continuing to minister to your family in the upcoming school year. Thank you for choosing Temple for your children.
