Friday – May 25th 2018

Hello TCS families. I trust everyone had a good last week of school. It is hard to believe that we are wrapping up another year. Thank you for allowing us to minister to your family this year. We trust that you enjoy your summer, and we look forward to seeing you back next year. May the Lord richly bless each of you.  Isaiah 26:4 says, “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock”. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.

 

Important Date:

August 22nd –  1st Day of School for the 2018-19 school year.

 

Medication pickup:

If your child has medication at school, please be sure to stop by the office in your child’s building today, Friday May 25th.  Medication cannot be picked up by students. Medication not picked up today by the end of school will be discarded. 

 

Regional Track Meet:

Cameron Worsham will be competing in the OHSAA Regional Track Meet at Troy High School today at 6:00 P.M.  He will be competing in the 110 Meter Hurdles, 300 Meter Hurdles, and 100 Meter Dash. Congratulations to Cameron on a great season to this point. We wish him well as he competes for the opportunity to run at the state track meet at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University next weekend!

 

Student Government Elections:

 The following students have been chosen by their peers to represent their classes and the student body by serving as the TCS Student Government for the 2018-19 year:

7th Grade – Leyton Chambers and Elijah White

8th Grade – Caleb Kiser and Ethan Wright

9th Grade – Darrick Clay and Hunter Reprogle

10th Grade – Joseph Engle and Audrey Powell

11th Grade – Lydia Bassett, Allison Durst and Carol Smith

12th Grade – Anna Acklin, Jonathan Acklin and Brody Bowman

 

M.S./H.S. Chess and Checkers Tournament:

Students of Temple Christian have been competing in a checkers and chess tournament hosted by Mrs. Burkholder.  Prizes such as gift cards to Panera and Menchies were handed out to the top three of each tournament. Lincoln Waters took first of the checkers tournament, with Leslie Delgado and Jacob Holloway coming in second and third. In the chess tournament, Mark Dominguez came in first, with Audrey Powell following in second, and Seth Nickles coming in third.

 

Registration for Youth Fall Sports: 

Girls in 5th and 6th Grade can register for Fall volleyball and save $5.00 by registering before June 1st !!!  Girls (K-4th) and Boys (K-8th) can register for Fall soccer and save $5.00 by registering before June 1st !!!  All registration is open through the months of May & June; July requires a $10 late fee. Registration closes on August 1st.  All registrations are completed online at http://sports.bluesombrero.com/templechristian   

 

Coaching Opportunities:

TCS is seeking to fill the following positions within the Athletic Department: Varsity Cheerleading Head Coach; Junior High Cheerleading Coach; Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact Athletic Director BJ McPheron at mcpheronbj@tcspioneers.org

 

2018-19 Immunization Requirements for 7th and 12th grade students:

Incoming seventh graders for the 2018-19 school year will be required to have a Tdap vaccination and the Meningococcal vaccine prior to the start of the school year. The Meningococcal vaccine is also required for students entering 12th grade in the fall of 2018. These are state requirements. Students without proof of vaccination can be subject to exclusion from school. One option that families have is a Teen Immunization Clinic for students entering grades 7 and 12, held at the Allen County Health Department on August 29th from 2:00pm-5:00pm. You can call the Health Department at 419-228-4457 to schedule an appointment (appointments are preferred; walk-ins will be seen as time allows).

 

Sports Physicals for current 6th – 11th graders: 

The 2018-2019 Sports Physicals Packet has been released. The packet contains crucial documents for the 2018-2019 Athletic Seasons. All documents are required to be signed, and the physicians’ physical must be completed in order for any student to participate in a practice, scrimmage, or game by August 1, 2018.

 

Elementary Field Day:

The TCS elementary had its annual Field Day on Tuesday. Students enjoyed sprints, long distance races, softball throws, relay races and many other friendly field games. It was a blast to watch the students engage in friendly competition.

 

Lost and Found:

We encourage elementary students and parents to check the lost and found in the elementary office before the end of the day. Items not picked up by today will be donated to a local thrift store.

 

Re-Enrollment:

 If we have not heard from you regarding the 2018-19 school year, we would love to hear from you soon. We look forward to your family returning to TCS.

 

Referral Discount:  

Please help us spread the good news about Temple Christian School by sharing TCS with your friends, families, and others. TCS families are eligible for a $300 tuition discount if they refer a family to TCS. The referred family must enroll in TCS and remain for at least one semester.

May 25        OHSAA Track and Field Regional Finals at Troy H.S. @ 6:00 P.M.
