Weekly Newsletter

Friday – October 19, 2018

Hello TCS families. We hope you had a great week.  Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.

Band/Choir Concert

We would like to invite you to the Fall Band/Choir Concert for grades 6-12 this coming Monday evening, October 22nd, at 7:00 P.M.

Veterans Day

We would like to invite you to our annual Veterans Day Program on Friday Nov. 9th at 2:00 P.M.  Our guest speaker will be Sgt. Jessica Green (Ohio National Guard and Iraq War Veteran).

Spikeball Tournament Fundraiser

We will be hosting a Spikeball tournament fundraiser for the Najmulski family on Saturday Nov. 3rd here in our TCS gymnasium.  Bob and Tiffany Najmulski have two children (Dylan and Kristin) who attend Temple. Bob has been battling brain and lung cancer since the Spring of 2017.  We would love to have you join us this day to support this important cause. Entry fee for the tournament is $25 for a 2-person team.

Field Trip

The Preschool and K4 classes enjoyed a day of fun at Furry Tail Farms on Wednesday.  There were big tires to climb on, tunnels to crawl through, slides and zip lines to fly down, a blob to bounce on, and little tractors to drive!  They also took part in a hay ride, and were able to pick out a pumpkin on the way back to the bus!  The students wore themselves out having a great time, and didn’t want to leave!  The Lord blessed us with safety and a beautiful day to enjoy our trip!

Guest Speaker

The 7th and 8th grade students enjoyed hearing from Mr. Jim Link, Clerk of Courts in Allen County, as he presented today in class. He explained the different philosophies of economics and government and the importance of voting. The students were even able to vote on their own specially designed ballot! The 7th and 8th graders have been studying about the U.S. government and elections and have even started their own election campaigns, which will culminate on November 6 with a general election in the middle school and high school. Mr. Link was also able to give the students some tips on running an effective campaign. Thanks again, Mr. Link, for coming to speak today!

The majority of Temple Christian high school students attended MAKERFEST 2018 today at the Civic Center.  MAKERFEST is a gathering of Northwestern Ohio high school students competing in STEM competitions, visiting a career fair, and attending break-out sessions to learn more about topics of their choice. We will have a review of the day’s events in next week’s newsletter.

Spelling Bee

The TCS Spelling Bee is open to all 4th-8th graders. Information was sent home with students last week. If your child is interested, please complete the information at the bottom of the form and return to either school office or Mrs. Helser by Tuesday, October 23. Practice sessions will be held after school in preparation for the TCS Spelling Bee, which will be held Wednesday, December 5, at 9 a.m.

Our school information system (Renweb) is now known as FACTS.  For now, there are no major changes that you need to be aware of.  They are encouraging users to begin logging into factsmgt.com rather than renweb.com.  Usernames and passwords will still be the same.  However, those who log in to renweb.com will still be automatically directed to the new site.
