Weekly Newsletter

Friday – October 26th, 2018

Hello TCS families. We hope you had a great week.  Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.

National Honor Society Induction Ceremony:

Congratulations to Temple Christian School’s National Honor Society inductees for the 2018-2019 school year: Bethany Whitman, Allison Durst, Grace Smith, and Aubree Linhart.  We are proud of your academic accomplishments and your dedication to serving God and others! Thank you to State Farm Agent Ben Anderson for speaking to the members about leadership. Thank you, Mrs. Cooper, for organizing this wonderful ceremony.

Bible Character Dress Up Day:

Today was Bible character dress up day in elementary chapel. Students used props and their imagination to dress as their favorite character from the Bible. Students also shared special songs and verses they have been working on since the beginning of the school year.

Pioneer Bucks:

Elementary students have been earning Pioneer Bucks all quarter for their exemplary behavior. Students will have the opportunity to use their Pioneer Bucks in the Pioneer store, which will be open on Friday, Nov. 2nd.

Field Trip:

Temple Christian School’s 6th, 7th, and 8th graders had quite an adventure in Columbus on Wednesday, October 24th! They toured the Ohio Statehouse and learned about our state’s history and government. They also went to the Columbus Fire Museum, where they found out about fire equipment history, as well as fire safety. Thank you to Mrs. Helser for arranging this great educational field trip.

MakerFest:

Congratulations to Elaina Helser, Chloe Marshall, and Emma White for winning 2nd place in the paper airplane challenge at MakerFest 2018!   Temple Christian High School students were 55 of 1,300 students representing 30 schools who competed in STEM competitions last Friday at the Civic Center.  Our students attended a career fair, along with breakout sessions to learn more about topics of their choice.  They did an amazing job, and several teams placed 4th and 5th in their competitions.  Way to go, students, for representing God, yourselves, and Temple Christian well!

Box Tops:

Just a friendly reminder to all parents and students that we are still collecting Box Tops on a regular basis. The Box Tops help equip our school with new playground equipment. These items are such a blessing for our students during recess. Our next Box Top collection will be Monday, October 29th. We are excited to see which classroom will be our Box Top winner!

New Spirit Store Hours:

The Spirit Store hours have changed.  The store (located in the high school building) will now be open every Wednesday from 2:30 – 4:00 P.M.  and during all varsity basketball home games.

Lost and Found:

The lost and found basket in the elementary office is overflowing already!  If your child is missing a jacket, sweater, sweatshirt, lunchbox, etc., please stop by.  All items not claimed by the end of the day on November 2, 2018 will be donated to Neighborhood Relief Thrift Store.

Band/Choir Concert:

Congratulations to Mrs. Brokaw and all of the band and choir groups who performed here on Monday evening.  The concert was a real blessing.  Great job students!

Veterans Day:

We would like to invite you to our annual Veterans Day Program on Friday Nov. 9th at 2:00 P.M.  Our guest speaker will be Sgt. Jessica Green (Ohio National Guard and Iraq War Veteran).

Spikeball Tournament Fundraiser:

We will be hosting a Spikeball tournament fundraiser for the Najmulski family on Saturday Nov. 3rd here in our TCS gymnasium.  Bob and Tiffany Najmulski have two children (Dylan and Kristin) who attend Temple. Bob has been battling brain and lung cancer since the Spring of 2017.  We would love to have you join us this day to support this important cause.  Entry fee for the tournament is $25 for a 2-person team.
