November 10th Newsletter

Hello TCS families. I trust you have had a good week. Let’s take some time this month to thank the Lord for His blessings in our lives. Psalm 106:1 says, “Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever”. I am very grateful for my salvation through Christ, my family, my friends, Temple Christian School, our wonderful staff here at TCS, and each of our TCS families. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend!

Veterans’ Day Program:

Thanks to all of those who joined us for our Veteran’s Day Program today. We enjoyed having the opportunity of honoring our Veterans. We appreciate their service to our country. Thanks to Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Brokaw, TCS students, and all others who made this program possible.

Elementary Christmas Ministry/Giving Opportunity:

For their Christmas project this year, elementary students have the opportunity of blessing two local organizations with items that they need as they minister to needy individuals and families in our community. Students received a handout today with specific items needed by Guiding Light Ministry, which is a faith-based organization for women who need help becoming self-sufficient. The organization provides shelter, education, guidance, and faith. The handout also includes items need by the GAP Pantry. This is a ministry, here at the Lima Baptist Temple, which provides needed household items for those in need in our community.

Christmas Tree Festival Activity:

Our K-4 program along with our preschool 4 year olds are looking forward to designing a tree for the Christmas Tree Festival at the Allen County Museum. The two classes will be taking a field trip to check out their tree along with the many others on display.

Elementary Pioneer Store Day:

K-5 through 5th grade students enjoyed spending their hard-earned Pioneer dollars last Friday at the Pioneer store. Students receive Pioneer Bucks for going above and beyond in the classroom or by being great leaders in the school. Students were able to purchase fun items such as: hot chocolate, slime, dress down slips, and even free coupons for Menchie’s. If your child shares with you that they have earned a Pioneer Buck, it’s something to be proud of! The Pioneer store will be open each quarter to reward students for their positive behavior.

Yearbook Information:

Order your 2017-2018 Temple Christian School yearbook with name personalization before 11/24/17 and you can choose up to four FREE icons to add to your cover! Our student-created yearbook is $40 and optional name personalization is $5. Order forms were sent home with students. Please return the order form with cash or check payable to Temple Christian School (memo line: yearbook) to the Elementary Office or to Mrs. Searcy in the high school, by 11/24/17. Season Tickets on Sale:

Season tickets for the upcoming high school/junior high boys and girls basketball seasons are now on sale in the HS office until Nov. 17th. We look forward to seeing many of you out supporting our winter sports student athletes.

Pioneer Rewards Activities:

Pioneer Rewards activities were held this week for middle school and high school students who received one lunch detention or less during the first grading period. Approximately fifty high school students enjoyed lunches at Penn Station Subs, Panera Bread, or Bellacinos, with some Menchies for Dessert, while thirty middle school students enjoyed a free period of games and candy! Congratulations students!

Post-Season Soccer Honors:

Congratulations to the following varsity soccer players for their Northwest District Soccer Honors: Cameron Worsham (1st Team), Levi Shenk (2nd Team), Paul Holloway (Honorable Mention), and Seth Ward (Honorable Mention).

Toys for Tots:

We have Toys for Tots collection boxes in both buildings. Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy to help a needy family. The Salvation Army will be picking up donations the week of December 4. The last day to donate is Friday, December 1st.

Little Pioneer Learning School – Positions Available:

The Little Pioneer Early Learning School is looking to hire a part-time teaching assistant and a reliable and flexible sub. Both positions provide assistance throughout the daycare and preschool program. Applicants should be willing to work with all age groups, including Infants through Pre-K, and the School Age Program. Both positions are part-time and year round.
