November 3rd Newsletter

Hello TCS families. It’s hard to believe that November is here and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It is a privilege to minister to each of our families. Thank you for your continued prayers and support for TCS. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend.

Field Trip to the Henry Ford Museum:

On Monday, the 7th and 8th grade students went to the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. They were excited to complete a scavenger hunt that took them through every section of the large museum. Among the many exhibits, they explored the Dymaxion House, walked among giant steam-engine locomotives, and admired presidential vehicles. Several students also enjoyed hand-on activities of putting together a model-T car, designing paper airplanes and testing their flight distance.

Field Trip to Ohio Caverns and Logan County Historical Museum:

Sixth grade students took a field trip on Monday to the Logan County Historical Museum in Bellefontaine and Ohio Caverns in West Liberty. While at the museum, students learned about a variety of local topics, including Indian artifacts, the history of transportation, and what a one-room schoolhouse looked like. They especially enjoyed touring the Orr Mansion as they stepped back into the early 1900s. At Ohio Caverns, students were awestruck with the stalactites and stalagmites as well as the other rare underground formations they encountered. We are also happy to report that 6th graders are not afraid of “total darkness”!

Elementary Field Trip:

Earlier this week K4-4th graders attended a performance produced by OSU Lima’s Theater Department entitled The Amazing Adventures of Baron M. As always, the play was kid-friendly, fun and interactive. The students and teachers had a great time!

Season Tickets on Sale:

Season tickets for the upcoming high school boys and girls basketball seasons are now on sale in the HS office.

OHSAA Meeting:

An OHSAA meeting for junior high and high school winter athletes is scheduled for Monday Night at 6:00 P.M. in the high school cafeteria. It is a mandatory meeting for all junior high and high school athletes and at least one parent. The meeting includes Cheerleading, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball and Bowling.

Veterans’ Day Program:

Please join us for our Veteran’s Day Program on Friday, November 10th at 2:00 P.M. in the LBT auditorium. We look forward to honoring our Veterans. We appreciate their service to our country.

Picture Retakes:

The date for school picture re-takes is Wednesday, November 8th. Picture order forms are available in both offices.

Toys for Tots:

We have Toys for Tots collection boxes in both buildings. Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy to help a needy family. The Salvation Army will be picking up donations the week of December 4. The last day to donate is Friday, December 1st.

Medical Reminders:

All medications taken by students must be administered by office staff, including cough drops. An Over the Counter Medication form or Prescription Medication form must be completed by parents and turned into the office before any medication can be given. Prescription medication forms must be signed by a parent and the student’s physician. All medications must be brought in by a responsible adult, not sent in with students.

Warm Clothing for Recess:

Please don’t forget to send warm clothes (coats, hats, and gloves) for recess now that fall has arrived and temperatures are cooler. The kids still enjoy going outside, but we want them to be warm. Thanks.

Box Tops Information:

So far this year we have earned $465.50 from Box Tops. Thank you for taking the time to cut them out and send them in! We earn 10 cents per Box Top and they do add up quickly. In the elementary building, we have a monthly drawing. For every 25 Box Tops turned in, the student gets to pick a prize and enter his or her name in a drawing. At the end of each month, one name is drawn to win a special prize. Our winner for October was Samuel Clevenger.

To help us out, please make sure the Box Tops are not expired and are cut out neatly. Using collection sheets, available in the elementary office, makes submitting them easier for all of us. Bonus certificates should be turned in separately and NOT attached to a collection sheet. Bonus codes can be found on specially marked packages, at the bottom of some receipts, and in stores during special promotions. You can also visit BTFE.com/bonus for more chances to win Bonus Box Tops.
