Hello TCS families. We trust you have had a good week. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend!
Re-enrollment for the 2018-19 school year is scheduled to begin on February 11th. We look forward to the opportunity of continuing to minister to your family in the upcoming school year. Thank you for choosing Temple for your children. We consider it a blessing to partner with you in your child’s education.
Mary Brown Service Award Night:
Temple Christian School will be honoring our newest recipients of the Mary Brown Service Award tonight, January 11th, at halftime of the varsity boys basketball game vs. Marion Elgin.
The 2019 recipients of the Mary Brown Service Award are Brad and Julie Crawford. For over 20 years, the Crawfords served in a variety of positions. Brad was the head junior high baseball coach, and assisted with high school baseball. He also volunteered in our elementary youth programs coaching baseball, basketball, softball and soccer. In addition, Brad served multiple terms on the TCS school board. Julie led the TCS drama department as either a director or co-director for 11 years, directing popular musicals and plays such as Music Man, Beauty and the Beast, Little Women and many others. Brad assisted in building masterful stage sets bringing amazing life to the TCS stage. Many TCS students were influenced by their faithful service and amazing dedication to Temple Christian School.
TCS will honor the Crawfords with a plaque that will be permanently located in the east hallway of the gymnasium. Mr. and Mrs. Crawford, we thank you for your many sacrifices and for your many years of service at Temple Christian School.
College Credit Plus Meeting:
We will be holding an informational meeting regarding the College Credit Plus Program for the 2019-20 school year on Feb. 7th at 6:30 P.M. in the high school lunchroom. The meeting is for any middle school/high school students (and their parents) who are interested in taking college courses next year. Several current TCS students are taking advantage of the state’s CCP Program, which allows students to take college courses for dual college/high school credit at no expense to the students. Examples of courses being taken by Temple students next semester are as follows: Composition II, Statistics, Calculus, American History, Composition and Literature, General Psychology, Sociology, Spreadsheets Software, Math of Business, and Introduction to Psychology. Students are taking courses through OSU Lima, UNOH, Rhodes State, and UC Clermont.
The JV and Varsity high school cheerleading squads are hard at work planning a fun week of cheer camp for girls in grades K4-6th. Camp will take place on Monday January 28, Tuesday January 29, and Thursday January 31 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. The girls will perform at the boys’ varsity basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 2nd. Cost is $35. We look forward to a fun week with our Little Pioneer Cheerleaders!
Our freshman class helped lead our elementary chapel today. They did a terrific job of teaching our students a new worship song along with fun motions. They also taught the sign language for II Corinthians 6:6, reminding us all of the importance of kindness. Our high school students finished chapel with a skit and a game to demonstrate how kindness and encouragement are so much more helpful than negativity and discouragement.
5th Grade Celebration:
Since the younger elementary students will soon be celebrating 100 days of school, the fifth-graders planned a party for “half-year”. After eating yummy Fat Jacks pizza, the students had a scavenger hunt answering questions like how many bones are in a human body, and recorded their answers with “half” of that number. Then they played Scrabble. What a great way to celebrate the first semester!
Ed Choice Scholarship Renewal:
Renewals for Ed Choice Scholarships begin on February 1st. Renewal applications have not yet been released by the Ohio Department of Education, but they should be available soon. Please see Amy Link in the elementary office for information about renewing your Ed Choice Scholarship.
