Hello TCS families. We trust that you have had a great week. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend!
Retirement of Two Faithful Teachers:
Please join Temple Christian School in extending best wishes to Mrs. Kathie Brorein and Mrs. Julie Lawrence, who will be retiring at the end of the current school year. Mrs. Brorein has taught at Temple for 38 years, while Mrs. Lawrence has taught for 40 years. We would like to thank both of them for their many years of service to TCS and the Lord. They have been incredible examples of dedication, servanthood, and teaching excellence. They have had a tremendous influence on many young people’s lives as well as the lives of the many administrators, faculty members, and staff members with which they have worked. We wish them well as they enter the next phases of their lives and trust that they will greatly enjoy their retirement.
We had a fantastic turnout today for our Grandparents’ Day Program. Students enjoyed utilizing their many talents to perform for their loved ones. Elementary students shared what they have been learning in music class this winter. The students sang and accompanied their own pieces using instruments like xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, percussion instruments, recorders, and ukuleles. It was a blessing to see our students using their God-given talents for His honor and glory. Thanks to all of the grandparents who attended. We appreciate the influence you have in the lives of your grandchildren.
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair was another huge success! Thank you to all who volunteered and/or purchased books for our classrooms and our students. We are excited to get new books in the hands of our students just in time for reading month. We will share more details on our sales total next week. In the meantime, you can still shop online until March 12, 2019. The direct link is http://www.scholastic.com/
Kewpee Art Show:
Temple Christian High School had many fine pieces of art submitted to the annual Kewpee High School Art Invitational at ArtSpace Lima. Senior Brody Bowman has a pencil portrait, Lydia Bassett has a mixed medium colored pencil and a mixed medium painting. Jacob Holloway has a painting of a boat that received second place award. We invite you to visit ArtSpace to see our students’ pieces of art. The display continues until April 7th. Congratulations to all of our fine artists!
NHS Canned Food Drive:
The TCS National Honor Society is holding a canned food drive from March 8_ 18. There was a flyer emailed to all families today with the details of the drive. All cans will benefit “Our Daily Bread”. Please consider bringing in cans into your classroom/homeroom next week to participate. Some teachers will be receiving a pie in the face if they can bring in enough cans for this event!
Honors Festival Band:
Eighth grade percussionist Caleb Kiser was recently selected as a member of the Ohio Music Education Association District 3 JH Honors Festival Band. Last weekend, Caleb rehearsed and performed with the Honor Band at Wapakoneta High School’s Performing Arts Center. Over 200 outstanding student musicians from our 8-county district presented a final concert on Saturday afternoon, which included the JH Honor Concert Band, Choir, and Jazz Band. Caleb did a great job of representing Temple at the concert. Congratulations, Caleb!
Spring Musical and Art Show:
The TCS spring musical and art show will take place on April 11-13. The students will be presenting Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. In addition, Mrs. Phillips and the TCS art students will be presenting their annual art show. Please make sure to mark your calendar for this exciting event.
