Hello TCS families. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”. Have a great weekend! Here are a few news items we wanted to share with you.

Teacher Appreciation Breakfast:

Thank you to our teachers’ appreciation committee led by Lora Szuch, Amber Shade, and Lindsay Haines for a wonderful breakfast and program enjoyed by TCS teachers this morning. As we near the end of the school year, please take the opportunity to thank our TCS teachers, who have done a great job of ministering to our TCS students this year!

National Day of Prayer:

TCS teachers and students recognized the National Day of Prayer on Thursday by participating in a variety of prayer activities throughout the day. The TCS student government helped lead prayer times in the middle school and high school buildings.

Senior English Fun:

Mrs. Searcy's English class headed outside for one last recess! They surprised the fourth and fifth graders and joined them, playing tag, teeter totters, and swinging. The elementary students loved every moment, cheering, "Seniors! Seniors!" They had fun and loved making memories bonding as a class.

Spanish Class Activity:

The high school Spanish classes held a fiesta this week for “Cinco de Mayo,” or May 5th. Earlier in the week, they learned why the day is significant to Mexicans, how it is celebrated in Mexico and many parts of the U.S., and that it is actually not Mexico’s day of independence, as many people think. The students brought in several types of Mexican foods to eat and enjoyed listening to Mariachi band music. A few of the students also learned an upbeat traditional folk dance - “The Mexican Hat Dance.”

Elementary Art:

The elementary students had a chance to create clay coil hearts in Art. We learned that Jesus transforms our hearts from scarlet to pure white when He washes our sin away. (Isaiah 1:18) We were also reminded to pray the prayer of the psalmist when he wrote, " Create in me a clean heart, Oh God, and renew a right spirit within me."

Allen Lima Youth Leadership:

Emma White and Elizabeth Clevenger attended Allen Lima Youth Leadership this school year. They learned about leadership opportunities in their community and what they could do as high school student to lead. This year's youth leadership class was challenged to create a project to reach out to their communities, teens, and schools. As May is mental health awareness month, the students came up with the "We Hear You" project, in which they made social media accounts and email addresses to reach out to teens and students with encouraging messages and uplifting words. Elizabeth and Emma graduated as part of the Youth Leadership Class of 2021 and look forward to future Temple Christian students experiencing the same class and having the opportunity to grow in their leadership.
