Lydia Winegardner was born on September 9, 2002, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Greg and the late Kimberly Winegardner. She has three siblings - Jacklyn, Nathaniel, and Elisha.

Lydia has spent most of her school years at Temple. She will graduate this year as a homeschooled student, but takes a class at Temple and has been a cheerleader here for many years. She said she would describe her senior year as “unproblematic.”

Lydia said her mom was someone who had inspired her because “She showed the courage and wisdom a true woman of God possesses.” She added that she hopes to someday have some of the strength her mother had.

A favorite memory of Lydia’s at Temple was in fifth grade when the school lost power. She also loved her time with friends in the lunchroom. Lydia was a Temple cheerleader for all four years of high school. In her spare time, she likes to play the piano, write, and draw.

Her favorite food is chocolate-covered strawberries, and her favorite books are “The Selection Series” by Kiera Cass. If she could have any superpower, it would be to read minds.

Lydia’s favorite verse is “When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him,” (Proverbs 16:7, English Standard Version).

Lydia’s advice to underclassmen is “Stay out of drama. It’s not worth getting caught up in. Stay positive and only strive to please God, rather than others.”
