Hello TCS families. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”.  This verse is a tremendous encouragement to those of us who place our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you.

NHS Ceremony:

Congratulations to following students on their induction into the TCS National Honor Society:  Leah Beraki, Elizabeth Clevenger, Josephine Deitering, Jordyn Hayes, Caleb Kiser, Kaylee Linhart, Lindsey Stump, and Ilona Szuch. These fine students were inducted for their excellence in academics, character, leadership, and service. Thank you to Mrs. Cooper for her leadership of this important student organization.

Middle School Guest Speaker:

The 7th and 8th grade students enjoyed hearing from Mr. Jim Link, Clerk of Court in Allen County, as he presented in class Wednesday. He explained the different positions of government and the importance of voting. The 7th and 8th graders have been studying about the U.S. government and elections. They have even started their own election campaigns, which will culminate on, November 3rd with a general election in the middle school and high school. Mr. Link was also able to give the students some tips on running an effective campaign. Thanks again, Mr. Link, for coming to speak!

Boston Tea Party:

The 8th graders have started reading Johnny Tremain as a class. The historical fiction novel details the life of a young silversmith apprentice during the start of the American War of Independence. On Wednesday, the class tried different flavors of Twinings of London tea as they learned about The Tea Act imposed on the American colonists. Since Twinings has been in business over 300 years, it was interesting to think that this tea company stretches back to the American Revolution. Students also learned that sugar was very expensive in the 1700s and was cone-shaped and kept under lock and key!
