Hello TCS families. Welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone. We look forward to an exciting 2021. Here are a few news items that we wanted to share with you. Have a great weekend!
5th Grade Reader’s Theater:
The 5th grade did a Reader’s Theater today. Students got a chance to improve their reading skills and their performance skills while performing a dramatic script reading. The class read a script called “The Six Travelers”, in which several poor travelers set off to find their way in life. The travelers learn to live peacefully together and to use their gifts and talents wisely to help each other and others around them.
Our little ones had a chance during art class to "chill out" while pretending to catch snowflakes on their tongues. Our older second and third grade students got to "warm up" with a cup of hot chocolate! All the while, we discussed God's great love for us and how He has given us fun things to enjoy like chocolate and snow.
8th Grade History:
The eighth graders read through the entire U.S. Constitution this week in history class. There were lots of opportunities for discussion, and for an activity, they created paper crafts to review the Bill of Rights. It was a fun way to test their knowledge of the Constitution!
High School Spanish Classes:
The Spanish I and II classes have been learning about things in "la ciudad" (the city), like learning the names of buildings, types of transportation, and how to ask/tell directions. For fun the classes created their own city to use as a map during class to ask and respond to questions like "¿Dónde está la biblioteca? (Where is the library?) "La biblioteca está cerca del parque." (The library is near the park.) Great job to all of the students on their artistic creations.
Positive Referral Donations needed:
Each week in grades 6-12, we recognize a student for his or her positive contributions to the TCS atmosphere. Would you be willing to donate $10 Gift Cards for these positive referral winners? Last year we were able to reward 30+ students for their positive attitudes and contributions to their peers and teachers. If you would like to help, please notify Mr. McPheron at firstname.lastname@example.org or drop off your donation of gift cards or cash to the HS office (labeled “Positive Referral”). (Examples of gift cards: Taco Bell, gas stations, Menchies, movie theatre, fast food, etc.)
HS/MS Christmas Music Concert:
Congratulations to Miss Elisabeth Brokaw and all of her Band and Choir students for the excellent virtual band and choir Christmas program that they presented before our break.
